I will be watching the finale of mello this saturday [edit] because it is a national competition, but beyond that will not be engaging any further with eurovision this year until (if) Israel either A) allows humanitarian aid into Gaza and takes significant action to safeguard civilians, B) allows foreign journalists free access to report from Gaza, or C) is booted from taking part

#just to be clear.#nothing can justify the indiscriminate starvation of Palestinians and destruction of their homes by the I D F #putting out a fire by blowing up the house leaves an uninhabitable world behind #especially regarding the flour massacre:#you cannot justify your own atrocities by pointing to the actions of the desperate people left behind trying to survive in it #when you were the one who swept every other option off the table for them in the first place #even if we restrict ourselves to the view that this is a competition between broadcasters and not governments #then it should be of utmost interest to those that foreign journalists be allowed access to report from gaza #which they currently are not #if israel really wants everyone to know how necessary and justified their actions are #then it should be easy and even beneficial for them to let others in to independently verify this fact for themselves. no?#the EBU itself has now called for foreign journalists to be allowed access to gaza #restrictions to the freedom of the press is the reason belarus was expelled from the EBU in 2021 #it is high time for it to be consistent in enforcing this principle that is core to its very being #I cannot enjoy a show supposedly about the value of unity and human expression #while behind the glitter and feather boas there are millions of people (including children) being deprived of not only their homes and food #but also their voices #schlager nerding
